Bruins look back at Game 6 and reflect on series, season

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (WHDH) -- The Bruins were on their way to forcing a Game 7 in Chicago, but then the unthinkable became reality.

The Blackhawks scored two goals in 17 seconds and put an abrupt end to an entire season.

“It’s probably one of the worst feelings you can get when you’re up by one goal with a minute twenty or whatever left and somehow you lost the game. It’s just like a total shock,” said Bruins defenseman, Johnny Boychuk.

Bruins forward, David Krecji, was down on himself he gave his post-game statement.

“All of a sudden it felt, like awful, it’s just an awful feeling,” said Krecji.

The heartbreaking collapse was magnified by the pain the Bruins play through to get to this point, especially forward, Patrice Bergeron.

“I had a broken rib, torn cartilage, and muscles, and I had a separated shoulder,” said Bergergon. “It hurts, you know, it doesn’t work your way. But you gotta give credit to Chicago, you know, they played a great series. It hurts to see them hoisting the cup.”

An agonizing end that overshadowed a season 28 other teams would take in a heartbeat.

“It’s going to take a little while before we can realize the accomplishment that we had in making it to the final again, but right now it doesn’t feel good,” said Bruins head coach, Claude Julien.
