WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WHDH) — In the days after the bombings, a mystery man known as “Misha” emerged. The suspects' family accused him of brainwashing Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
Parents of the elusive Misha said nothing as they walked into their West Warwick, Rhode Island apartment Monday.
According to CNN, the FBI questioned Misha, about the Marathon Bombing after reports that the suspected bombers' family accused him of radicalizing Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the alleged mastermind of the deadly plot.
The family's accusations come just a few days after the suspects' mother praised Misha in a TV interview.
"When Misha visited us he just kind of opened our eyes about Islam. He was really devoted. And he's very good, nice man," said Zubeidat Tsarnaev, suspects’ mother.
Misha, whose real name is Mikhail Allakhverdov, reportedly denies any involvement in the bombing and says he is cooperating with authorities.
An attorney, who met with Misha's parents inside their apartment, says they're also cooperating.
“To date they have answered all the questions that have been asked of them by the authorities. They’re fully cooperating,” said Richard Nicholson, attorney.
When 7News asked Mikhail Allakhverdov’s neighbor when she last saw him, she replied, “I saw him yesterday.”
Neighbor Libby Silva says Misha, or Michael as she calls him, lives part time with his parents and part time with his girlfriend. She has a hard time believing he could have been involved in the bombing.
“I think he’s a nice person,” said Libby Silva, a neighbor. “I don’t think he has anything to do with this.”
As reporters waited for Misha outside His parents' apartment, their attorney said they're struggling with all the attention.
“They’re elderly. They’re under a lot of pressure, a lot of stress. I’m here to try to relieve some of the tension that they’re going through right now. It is a trying time,” said Nicholson.
Nicholson said he expects more questions for Misha’s parents from authorities.
