FALL RIVER, Mass. (WHDH) — A car headed towards an intersection, crashed into a man crossing the street and kept driving in Fall River.

“You can see the car kind of jerk to the side and it’s almost as if they were focused on something else until they actually felt that impact,” said Eric Smith, who was hit by the car.

Surveillance video recorded the accident that left Smith unconscious on the ground. He received two fractures on his skull.

Smith went flying through the air and he tumbled over and landed about six feet from where he was hit.

“The feeling of actually getting hit was, the only way I can really describe it is numbing,” said Smith.

It happened around 7:30 Friday morning. The 25-year-old was walking to work. He made it almost all the way across the street when the car struck him just before he reached the sidewalk.

“It’s like something flashing before your eyes. Instead of my whole life flashing before my eyes, it was just like a lightening flash,” said Smith.

The driver kept driving after Smith hit the pavement twice. Days later he still doesn’t know who it was that hit him and left the scene.

“It’s kind of outrageous to think that you’re on your way to work just like any other day and then find out that somebody hits you, leave you there,” said Smith.

Smith said that he was speaking out days after the accident in the hope that whoever hit him will come forward.
