FRANKLIN, Mass. (WHDH) — New information came to light in the case against Aaron Hernandez. A picture shown on 7News led police to what could be a key piece of evidence. The baseball hat Herenandez can be seen wearing in the photo was found at a condo in Franklin that not a lot of people knew about.

Aaron Hernandez was renting a condo-complex in Franklin, and friends of his that stayed at the condo refered to it as a “flop house.” According to court documents, a picture seen on 7News of Aaron Hernandez at a night club in Boston led investigators to more evidence that they found at the Franklin condo.

The photo, sent to 7News by a viewer, shows Hernandez wearing a ball cap. The woman who took the photo told 7News that she took the picture at Rumor nightclub on Friday night, just a few days before the murder. In the request for the search warrant, police referenced seeing the hat Hernandez was pictured wearing in that photo on 7News. That hat was found during a search of his Franklin condo. During the search, investigators also found a white colored hooded sweatshirt that was the same one Hernandez was seen wearing on surveillance video the night of the homicide.

They also found three different calibers of ammunition, some of it sitting out on the kitchen table. Information that Carlos Ortiz shared with police led to the search of the Franklin condo. Ortiz is Hernandez's friend from Connecticut who was being held on weapons charges. Ortiz told investigators that he was with Aaron Hernandez on the night in question and that Hernandez had another address that not many people know about – the Franklin condo.

Hernandez’s barber in Franklin also told police that he been at the Franklin condo. Hernandez was charged with killing 27-year-old Odin Lloyd from Dorchester. Lloyd's body was found less than a mile from Hernandez's house.
