HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut's largest utility is reporting that more than 2,400 customers have lost power as fierce storms and high winds pounded the state.
Connecticut Light & Power said Monday afternoon that the outages were primarily in southwest Connecticut and the north-central part of the state where the storm was most intense. Windsor Locks was particularly hard hit, with power outages affecting 800 customers.
Mitch Gross, a spokesman for the subsidiary of Northeast Utilities, said tree limbs have fallen, pulling down or otherwise damaging power lines.
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Monday afternoon for Fairfield and New Haven counties and Westchester County, N.Y.
