OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The Red Sox have traded pitcher Jon Lester and outfielder Jonny Gomes to the Oakland Athletics. A person with knowledge of the deal says the Sox will get outfielder Yoenis Cespedes. Cespedes is in the third season of a $36 million, four-year contract. The Red Sox will also get a competitive balance draft pick next year.

He says the team rode a "magical wave" last season and things haven't gone well this year but he still couldn't fathom any player wanting to leave Boston.
